Belbourie is a purpose designed alpaca farm, nestled in the foothills of the Southern Highlands of NSW and conveniently located near the Picton exit from the Hume Highway, 45 mins from the Sydney GPO. It comprises 40 acres of predominately native pasture, with paddocks connected by strategic laneways to facilitate stock movement and rotational grazing.
Over the past 7 years the white huacaya herd has expanded, and is now maintained at around 70 alpaca.
The benchmarks selected for the breeding programme were elite genetics and proven performance for fibre, frame, and fertility. As a result, multiple broad ribbons (Champion and Supreme) have been awarded to Belbourie for both animals and fleeces. Belbourie offers quality alpacas for sale. Pregnant females have a live birth guarantee. Maidens and males come with a fertility guarantee. All stud males are solid white champions; matings are available on farm or by mobile depending on location.
The owners, Glenda and Daryl Salmon, are dedicated to the continued development of the Belbourie herd and particularly to the successful commercialisation of the alpaca industry.
Advice on all aspects of alpaca management is freely available. Farm visits by appointment are most welcome.
